Travis is a Leadership Georgia alumni and past Trustee of the Board. He currently serves as a member of the Economic Development Authority and Workforce Development Committee. He is the past Chair of the Columbus Technical College Board of Trustees, past Chair of the Columbus Library Foundation Board of Directors, and past Chair of the Columbus Board of Realtors Circle of Excellence Committee. Travis has been directly involved in the decisions that have positively impacted Columbus and the region. He has been a member of the Planning and Advisory Commission, Valley Partnership Development Authority, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Realtors. He is a nearly 20-year tenured member of the Columbus Rotary Club of Columbus, where he has chaired several community projects. As a Rotarian, he has also served the organization as a Program Chair and Board Member.
Travis’ service to his community also spans across his career history. He has worked in various sectors as a small business owner and a leadership team member at Fortune 500 Company, and he currently works in the non-profit sector. He served as the Co-Founder of Prestige Property Brokers, LLC, a real estate agency that was established over 15 years ago. Prior to this role, Travis worked for Synovus and TSYS, a Global Payments Company, first in the client relations area and then in the human resources division. He currently serves as the Director of People Services with strategic leadership responsibilities for the operational aspects of the organization's human resources needs.
Travis has received numerous awards and recognitions for his leadership and service. He graduated from the St Francis Fellowship Program, an alumni of Leadership Columbus, a recipient of various realtor awards, and named the Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce.
Travis is a devoted husband, father, and son. He and his wife Kia have been married for almost 33 years. They have three adult sons and one grandson. He is a loving son to Tommie and Brenda Chambers. He is a dedicated member of Lambda Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc. where he has served two years as Basileus of the Fraternity. He is a member of New Destiny Church International where he is the Chair for Community Impact Outreach and a member of the Pastoral Leadership Team.
Travis is pro-development, and wants to continue his efforts from his time spent on the Development Authority to position our city for continued economic growth.
Travis believes in a healthy police force, community-oriented policing, and strong neighborhoods.
Travis intends to serve the citizens of Columbus through active listening, creative problem-solving, and consensus building. An open mind and collaborative spirit will be required to effectively reach actionable resolutions to our collective challenges.
